How to Start Drilling

For accurate positioning, use a suction cup drill locator whenever possible. If a locator is not available, start drilling with the bit held at approximately a 45-degree angle. Once the diamond edge begins to penetrate the material and the hole is established, gradually lift the drill to a vertical position and continue drilling.

This starting technique helps prevent the bit from wandering across smooth surfaces such as porcelain tile, ceramic tile, marble and granite.
